Integrating 3D spatial maps and Visual Positioning System (VPS) technology in shopping malls is not just upgrading the shopping experience, butredefining how people explore modern consumer spaces.
This is one of the first systems in Vietnam to simultaneously apply VPS, large-scale spatial mapping, and interactive content at a scale of tens of thousands of square meters - demonstrating the potential of technology in personalizing andbringing the retail experience to life.
HOW AR TECHNOLOGY TRANSFORMS THE COMMERCE EXPERIENCE
Smart Navigation & Store Search
Users simply raise their phone and scan the surroundings, the system recognizes the real area and displays virtual arrows guiding to stores, food courts, or other amenities. Users can also search for locations by voice or text, for example: "Find the Uniqlo store."
Interactive Campaigns & On-site Games
Users participate in games linked to real locations within the mall, encouraged to explore more stores to receive digital rewards, discount coupons, or gifts. This format increases visits to less prominent areas, extends dwell time, and drives revenue.
Enhanced Communication & Virtual Storefront Expansion
AR technology allows displaying 3D products directly at the point of sale so customers can visualize without physical displays. When customers pass by a point of sale, their phone displays promotions and virtual product try-on experiences. Brands can place virtual models (products, KOLs, mascots) around the area to attract from afar and expand brand visibility.
Behavior Analysis & Personalized Messaging
The system anonymously records movement paths, stopping points, and interaction times of customers within the mall. This data helps analyze attraction zones (heatmap) to optimize displays and promotions. It also enables sending personalized notifications matching behavior such as: "The product you viewed is on sale at this store."

AEON MALL Tan Phu Celadon
On the occasion of Hung Kings' Commemoration Day, AEON Mall Tan Phu partnered with Xense AR to deploy an augmented reality (AR) experience helping visitors discover Vietnamese cultural heritage through a fresh perspective. With a scale of over 50,000m² and hundreds of stores, AEON Mall Tan Phu is a complex space where smart positioning and interactive experiences are not just highlights, but practical support tools for users - especially young people and international visitors.
Large-Scale Spatial Mapping
The mapping process began by using 360° cameras to scan the entire mall area - from corridors, escalators, food courts to individual stores and parking areas.
Seamless VPS Visual Positioning
VPS visual positioning technology was deployed seamlessly to guide visitors moving between AR experience zones smoothly.
Interactive AR Content Placement
Based on 3D spatial maps and world-anchored AR positioning technology, virtual reality content is precisely placed at each point within the mall.
