Web Navmesh Editor User Guide

1. Getting Started

Open the Navmesh Editor website and choose one of the following options:

  • Create a new project: Upload a .glb model file. The requirements for preparing the .glb file are described in a separate document.
  • Continue working: Upload a previously saved .zip working file from your computer.

The controls in the 3D View follow the standard Web Editor conventions and are described in the corresponding documentation.

2. Marking Areas with Area Marker

Area Marker is used to mark specific areas on the 3D model.

  1. Under Tools, select area-marker in Active Tool.
  2. Select Add Area Marker. A new marker is added to the Selected Area Marker list.
  3. Select the marker you want to edit from the list. A cube appears in the 3D space.
  4. Move, rotate, and resize the cube to cover the area to be marked on the model.
  5. Select the appropriate Area Type: Walkable, Not Walkable, Jump, Stair, Escalator, or Elevator.
  6. To delete a marker, select it and click Delete Area Marker.

Multiple Area Markers can be created to mark different areas.

Add-link is used to connect two areas when there is no geometry in the 3D model file between them.

For example, the model may contain the floor surfaces of the first and second floors but no model geometry connecting the two floors.

  1. Under Tools, select add-link in Active Tool.
  2. Left-click in the 3D view to select the starting point.
  3. Right-click to select the ending point.
  4. Select Bidirectional if the link should work in both directions.
  5. Select the appropriate Area Type for the link.

Users can select an existing link to edit or delete it.

4. Generating and Checking Navmesh

After adjusting the Area Marker and Add-link, select Generate Navmesh.

The tool applies the changes to the currently open working file and displays the results visually in the 3D View. This step does not download a file to the computer.

During the editing process, you can use:

  • Reset Camera to restore the camera view to its default position.
  • Camera Speed to adjust the camera movement speed.
  • NavMesh Stats to monitor Navmesh statistics.

5. Saving the Project or Exporting the Final Output

Generate Navmesh, Save Project, and Download Navmesh are three separate operations:

  1. Generate Navmesh — applies the changes to the currently open working session.
  2. Save Project — saves the working file so that it can be reopened and edited later.
  3. Download Navmesh — exports the final Navmesh as a .tjsnm file.
